Julie and Xavier bought the seven-acre Château des Eyrins estate from Eric Grangerou in 2008. The Grangerou family has been cellar masters for Château Margaux for four generations. Bordered on two sides by the vines of the legendary Château Margaux, this 2011 Château des Eyrins is a textbook example of the great terroir of Margaux, reflecting both its real estate and the handmade quality of its production.
The bouquet is billowy, offering plenty of plum, cherry, spice box, and dried herbs. Approachable and extremely satisfying right now, this wine is is opulent and has a luscious texture that displays ample fruit and spice.
Blend: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot.
A perfect partner to beef tenderloin with gorgonzola butter, lamb, or red wine braised duck leg.
